W+H girls enjoy another dominant golf season

By Briana Li ‘25

The esteemed Wardlaw+Hartridge girls’ golf team has once again finished a phenomenal season. Undefeated in the division, they finished with an 11-0 record and placed first in the GMC Championships. With a skilled and hardworking group of girls being led by head coach Jim Howard, the reigning NJ Coach of the Year, victory and awards have come often.

The starters of the golf team are Sarah Shao ‘24, Claire Lu ‘24, Tanya Chowdary ‘24, and Ava Choi ‘25, with the three juniors taking the role of co-captains. Freshmen Lily Bauer ‘26 and Nitya Sahni ‘26 had been mentored by the upperclassmen and contributed to the team’s success and spirit.

In the 2023 Red Devils Invitational at the Copper Hill Country Club, Wardlaw + Hartridge earned the team title with Sarah Shao winning the individual championship, and shooting 1 under par, and Clare Lu being tied for second place with a 2-over-par round of 75.

“I’m so proud of the team for everything we have accomplished this year. The grit and determination have been absolutely inspiring to see, and I’m so happy and grateful to be part of this team!” exclaimed Columbia University commit Sarah Shao ‘24.

The Rams have excelled in the past few years, winning two state championships, two Prep championships, three sectional titles and three GMC titles. The girls are bound to have an amazing season next year as well, hopefully with the addition of new talented players.
