The Wardlaw + Hartridge track and field has had an outstanding spring season, breaking records and personal bests while maintaining a positive and optimistic environment. Recently, on May 22, the Girls’ 4x400 relay team consisting of Taylor Green ‘26, Emma Herko ‘25, Jayla Presley-May ‘26, and Charlotte Szczubelek ‘26, brought home a first-place win at the NJISAA Prep Championships.
“Everyone’s hard work is finally paying off with tons of PRs, we’re making history as a team since the girls won the Preps 4x400 and the Gold Division Relays, and the boys ran at Penn Relays and look to qualify for Outdoor Meet of Champs,” Emma said.
One of the leading runners and captains, Naomi Valcourt ‘24, explained, “Despite an injury-heavy season, the track team has been growing and improving, putting out great results. Even though it’s mostly an individual sport, we always motivate and push each other to continue to get better.”
Valcourt is not the only Ram to mention the closeness of the team. One of the four captains, Adam Eisdorfer ‘25, said, “The track team has gotten a lot closer as a team, and everyone is excited to see what we can do as we head into states.”
Indoor Prep state champion Thomas O’Connor ‘25 is also excited for the team’s future and is proud of the Rams’ success thus far: “The track team this season has been doing amazing. With so many people beating their best times, we are constantly growing better and better.”
