Co-Captain Amandeep Bahia '24 dominates the field on his feet.
The Wardlaw+Hartridge boys’ soccer season has come to an end for this year, but the boys’ accomplishments will not be forgotten. Led by a team of 10 seniors, the squad was able to earn a winning record of 10-7-1, with a Gold Division record of 9-2-1.
This impressive record is accompanied by the four Rams that received the GMC All-Division award: Matthew Faust ‘23, Adam Eisdorfer ‘25, Gyrord Gregoire ‘23, and Amandeep Bahia ‘24. To top it off, head coach Jason Montesinos was given the honor of Coach of the Year.
Throughout the ups and downs of the 2022 season, captain Gyrord Gregoire claims that the team’s biggest struggle was staying confident. Gyrord explains, “We have such high expectations of ourselves that when we make a mistake, we often get down on ourselves.” However, after learning to “acknowledge the good” and focus on the bigger picture, the players were able to overcome this hurdle and restore their confidence in both their own abilities and their abilities as a team.
While the boys had a thrilling run, their season came to an end at the hands of Hawthorne Christian during the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Tournament on November 2.. The game was a close one, as it went into overtime and ended with a final score of 2-1.
For upcoming seasons, Gyrord provided advice for the returning players: “Don’t dwell on your mistakes. Focus on what you can do to make it up and do your best to prepare mentally for games.”
The Rams are incredibly proud of what they accomplished this year, especially the seniors. As for upcoming seasons, it will be exciting to see how the team develops and flourishes.
