After coming off a winning 2021-2022 boys’ basketball season, the Rams have yet to find a win this year. The team moved to the Blue Division after placing second overall in the Gold Division last year. However, with several of their most experienced and highest-scoring players graduating, this season has been a struggle so far. With the season almost over, the Rams’ record stands at 0-11.
Despite the team’s string of losses, certain players continue to stand out. Harrison Kilpatrick ‘23, the Rams’ leading scorer and co-captain, hopes “that we will pull out a win before the season ends. We are working hard in practice every day and building our chemistry to (make) our team stronger.”
Kilpatrick also leads the team stats in scoring, free throws and 3-pointers. He recognizes that a challenge the team is facing is “not finishing the whole game through.” The team leader in rebounds and steals, Al-Hammed Bell ‘25, agrees with Kilpatrick.
“A challenge we’re facing as a team is lack of experience, which makes some players have to step up and try to help out,” he commented.
The team’s record does not reflect how much the players have learned throughout the season. Co-captain Gyrord Gregoire ‘23 explains that “this season has really taught me patience. In the years prior, the team was filled with experienced players, but this year we had a lot of newcomers. I realized that it takes time to get the hang of things and you need to be a little patient in order to get better.” Likewise, Daniel Zaidi ‘25 adds, “this season, I have changed as a player by learning how to become more responsible and experiencing a camaraderie that uplifts the team spirit.”
