The new school year saw many impressive introductions to club initiatives, some old and some new, from student leaders in the Berry Performing Arts with focuses on competitions, improving the campus, and cultivating student interests.
“It was really exciting and inspiring to learn about the club options. I have to admit with so many it will be very difficult to choose!” said an Upper School freshman who wished to remain anonymous.
The club initiatives this year include the Animation Club, The Beacon, W+H Book Club, Chess/Strategy and Board Games, Chinese Culture Club, Competitive Business and Economics Club, Competitive Math Club, Computer Science Club, The Writer’s Studio, Dance Club, Debate Team, Film Club, First Aid Club, Girls Empowerment Club, Health and Wellness Club, Model United Nations, Reading Buddies, Rock Band Club, Science Club, Tabletop Strategies Club, Wellness in Active Minds, Cooking Club and the Green Club. Upper School students will have the opportunity to join two clubs and they will take place in a designated period on Thursdays.
“I am looking forward to seeing underclassmen take charge and initiative in literary analysis and creative writing,” said Luke Tan ‘24, a co-leader of The Writer’s Studio, along with Chiupong Huang ‘23 and Naischa Puri ‘23. With more opportunities for in-person activities, the Upper School hopes the great number and diversity of groups cultivate new interests and positively shapes the campus.
