Gbemi Olarewaju ’24 shakes hands with Annie Gu ’23 during the Upper School meeting when the Student Council presidential transfer of power was conducted.

With the 2022-2023 school year coming to an end, Upper School clubs and organizations look to shift leadership and establish a healthy foundation for next year. One of the most crucial shifts has recently occurred in the Upper School’s Student Council, where new members were elected for each class. The newly elected officers were announced on May 1 in the Berry Performing Arts Center. The positions appointed include President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, JBoard President, and JBoard Representative.

For the Class of 2026, new officers include Natalie Chen ‘26 (President), Tanisha Ramachandran ‘26 (Vice President), Nijiany Genao ‘26 (Secretary/Treasurer), and Christian Lee ‘26 (JBoard Representative). Natalie, who will be partaking in her first year as President, is “excited for grade-level events and fundraisers.” With the class’s best interest in mind, the officers hope to provide the class with a “memorable year, starting with more fun and excitement,” Chen added.

The Class of 2025’s new officers are Adam Eisdorfer ‘25 (President), Tapleen Kaur ‘25 (Vice President), Giselle Rodriguez ‘25 (Secretary/Treasurer), and Rajwans Sindhar ‘25 (JBoard Representative). Rajwans, who was re-elected to her position, explains that her biggest goal is to “keep a good standard” for the rising juniors. As the Class of 2025 embarks on their journey as upperclassmen, the officers aim to serve as role models for both their peers and underclassmen.

Last, but most certainly not least, the rising seniors elected Gbemi Olarewaju ‘24 (President), Raiya Patel ‘24 and Hannah Yin ‘24 (Co-Vice Presidents), Naomi Valcourt ‘24 (Secretary/Treasurer), Diya Patel ‘24 (JBoard President), and Siddharth Bharadwaj ’24 (JBoard Representative) as their class council.

On May 1, former Student Council President Annie Gu ‘23 transferred her title and responsibilities to Gbemi Olarewaju ‘24, who is “thrilled for our grade to continue growing and bonding as one.” The officers of the rising senior class look forward to planning many activities to make the most of their time together before graduation.

Congratulations to the newly appointed members of the Student Council! We look forward to seeing what the Student Council accomplishes in the next school year!
